WOW! The first ShoutOut of 2010.  Did you know that the first day of February was a palindrome.

Either way you write 01022010 it's the same. Talk about dates, we're planning one heck of a party for Friday 13/13/2013.  Make you reservations now! 

A lot of great things happened at DeAnza during 2009 and we expect the same for 2010.  The first new addition will be the replacement of the Far Infrared Sauna later this week.  It was supposed to be a Christmas Day present, but it got dropped on the way to DeAnza by the installers.  If you haven't been out in awhile, you may have missed the addition of the extra TVs in the Oasis "Come as You Are" Bar.

Our first theme dance of the year is the Pajama Party on the 16th.  Don't dress up - just get comfortable.  Put on your jammies and join us for some great tunes of the 50's, 60's and 70's performed by "Double Play".  Pepperoni Pizza, Cold Budweiser and some Cherry Coke (spiked I'd bet) - Maybe they'll be a prize for the "neatest outfit".  Nothing fancy, just great listening and dancing music with some great company thrown in.

Need a place to celebrate your, or someone specials Birthday or Special Occasion?  Well DeAnza has the perfect venue and expertise to make it extra special.

Did you know that AANR's Officers and Trustees come from volunteers?  Ever thought that you could do a better job than "they" do?  Well, now may be the chance to prove it.  Nominations for Officers and Trustees close March 15.   All you have to do is meet the minimum qualifications and get the required number of endorsements sent in to the AANR officer prior to March 15 and you, too, can be on the ballot.  For more information contact the DeAnza office or AANR.

 

On the road at the AANR Board Meeting so this will be short and sweet just to remind you of some exciting happenings this month.

This month is shaping up to be a sports and lovers month with the Super Bowl, Daytona 500 and Valentines Day all in the first two weeks of February.

Sunday 2/7 - Root for the Colts or the Saints in SB XLIV (that's 44 for you non-football fans). Even if footballs not your thing, come in for a cold beer, free dogs, wings and other appetite ruining treats. We'll have four TVs showing all the action. Pre-game at noon, 3 pm game time.

Saturday 2/13 - Treat your Sweetheart to a wonderful Valentine's Dinner before the traditional Valentine's Dance. This year's theme is "Favorite Jock". I wonder how many will be costumed as Tiger Woods with a black eye.

Sunday 2/14 - Help open the 2010 racing season by watching the Super Bowl of Racing direct from Daytona. I'll bet there's some leftover dogs and wings from super bowl for this one as well.

Now is the time to start thinking about forming your Krewe and decorating your "float" for the biggest parade in DeAnza's history. Although the real Mardi Gras is on a different day, DeAnza celebrates Mardi Gras on 2/27 beginning the day with it's traditional "Cart Parade". Don't forget to ask "Give me somthin Mista".

A special thanks to all of you who have been putting your cans in the recycle bins. After two years of storing, we finally took the cans to the re-cycler and collected enough to pay for 2/3 of the new sauna which is now up and running in the fitness center. Keep up the great work.
